Fathers day is fast approaching (June 15th, 2008 to be exact), and if you're not ready, well its time to get to work. So just incase you're having a hard time finding the perfect gift for your dad, I thought I'd give you a few ideas from a guys perspective.
Power tools, power tools, power tools. Need I say more? Guys like gifts they can use. And nothing is more useful than a new Sander, saw, or a new Router. These are things that dad would love to have, and he'll think of you every time he uses one. If you're on a limited budget, don't worry. There are a bunch of hand tools that dad would love too.
Another great low cost gift for a handy dad is a wood working plan. Some great plan ideas are furniture, entertainment centers, tables, and chests. If dad already enjoys making his own furniture for himself or to sell, I'm sure he'd enjoy a "Hand Crafted by…" wood brander. That way he can put his own signature or logo on his masterpieces.
Gift baskets
If your dad already has more tools than he's ever use, or just doesn't have time to fool with woodworking, a gift basket makes a great gift. These day's they make baskets for just about everybody. You can find baskets for the fisherman, golfer, or the motorcycle enthusiast. What would be a gift basket without yummy food selections that any guy would love. How about a chili gift basket, or a barbeque basket for the outdoor griller in him, or even a beer basket.
Some dads are just really hard to buy for. I know I've always felt a little awkward buying a book as a gift, but if your dad loves to read, a book might be the best gift. It could be one of today's bestsellers like Tim Russert's Wisdom of Our Fathers. A Home and Garden Book might be your dad's perfect gift. Maybe a mystery, history, or art book might be your dad's favorite.
There are lots of other gift ideas that your dad would love. If your father likes to cook out on the grill, how about a selection of nice juicy steaks. That's something the whole family could enjoy. If you dad is a boater (or just wishes he were), have a look at some boating theme gifts. For the real do it yourselfer, how about a beer making kit. If your father's passion is working in his yard, he might like some garden décor. Or maybe something to help tend his lawn.
I hope that gives you a few ideas of what to get your dad this Father's day. There are so many unique items out there, that your dad will hopefully get something he isn't even expecting. Whatever you get him, I know he'll love it. As always, happy crafting and have a great Father's Day!
